City: 2nd year of 'Made in America' a success

PHILADELPHIA - September 3, 2013

The office of Mayor Michael Nutter said more than 100,000 people jammed the Ben Franklin Parkway over Labor Day weekend.

A number of performers took the stage, including Beyonce and Nine Inch Nails.

The biggest issue, according to city officials, was the heat.

"At a couple of times it got a little hairy only because there was such a surge of people, especially late Saturday afternoon. The temperature really hit us hard and there was a lot of heat exhaustion and dehydration," said Deputy Mayor Everett Gillison.

Only two people were arrested on the festival grounds.

Meanwhile, the city says police are handling the sexual assaults of two concertgoers off festival grounds.
