It happened around 7:30 Friday night at 5th and West Spencer streets.
A car in front of the bike had stopped and the motorcyclist lost control crashing into the vehicle.
Authorities say the victim, a male in his 30s, was not wearing a helmet at the time.
The motorcyclist was taken to Albert Einstein Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the car was not injured.
Philadelphia police are investigating.
