Drexel University warns of phone thefts on campus

UNIVERSITY CITY - September 25, 2013

The thefts happened on Friday, Saturday and Monday.

In the Friday incident, police say a man approached the female victim from behind in the 3200 block of Market Street around 1:20 p.m., grabbed her cell phone and fled.

On Saturday, police say a man grabbed a phone from another female victim's hand in the 3300 block of Market Street around 7:30 p.m.

Then, on Monday, police say a both a man and woman approached a female victim in the 3200 block of Market Street around 5:55 p.m. and asked to use her phone. The victim handed her phone over to the man who then fled north on 33rd Street toward Market.

Drexel is reminding students to walk in groups, stay in well-lit areas or use Drexel's Walking Escort Service by calling 215-895-2822.
