Rash of copper downspout thefts in Doylestown

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - October 3, 2013

The first incident took place Monday at approximately 8:50 p.m. The victim said she saw a suspicious person walking across her yard with a large object. She later realized a 12 inch section of a downspout was missing. The missing section is valued at approximately $300.

A representative from First Church of Christ Scientist reported that three sections of downspout, totaling approximately 21', were removed from the building sometime late Monday to early Tuesday. The missing sections are valued at approximately $450.

A representative from Doylestown Presbyterian Church reported four downspouts missing from the property sometime between Monday and Wednesday. The sections are between 6' and 8' each. They are estimated to be worth approximately $400.

A resident of the 100 block of E. Oakland Avenue reported that a 12' section of downspout valued at approximately $180 was stolen from her home sometime between Monday and Wednesday.

A resident of the 200 block of W. Oakland Avenue reported on October 2 that three sections of copper downspouts were removed from her residence, although she is unsure when the theft occurred. The sections are 7' in length and valued at approximately $315.
