Crimefighters: $5,000 reward in Bridesburg Rite Aid robbery

BRIDESBURG - October 26, 2013

On Saturday, August 24th, two men and a woman walked into the Rite Aid on the 4300 block of Richmond Street in the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia.

"They came in with the intention of shoplifting. They were spotted, one of the managers went up to them and at that time the shoplifting became robberies," said Santo Montecalvo, Citizens Crime Commission.

The trio were caught on surveillance video inside the store.

Police say they scoured the aisles for goods and stuffed them in a backpack.

When they were approached by the manager, the woman allegedly bit her arm to escape.

"Thank God it was just a bite and they weren't armed because this could have escalated into something worse than what it is," said Montecalvo.

Rite Aid is posting a $5,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible.

"These perpetrators need to be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law," said Montecalvo.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS (8477). All calls will remain anonymous.
