The Garden State Plaza in Paramus was closed after the shooting Monday night, and remained shuttered Tuesday as investigators did a thorough search of the property.
The company that owns the mall is paying for the additional police presence Wednesday.
More than 200 people held a vigil for the gunman on Tuesday night.
Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says 20-year-old Richard Shoop of Teaneck killed himself with the same weapon he used to fire the shots. Molinelli says Shoop left a note with his family suggesting he would harm himself.
No other injuries were reported.
