Cocaine, guns, and cash seized in Newark, Del. arrest

NEWARK, Del. - November 6, 2013

42-year-old James H. Groce was arrested Tuesday morning after leaving his home on the 200 block of Arrowwood Drive.

Police say a search of Groce's vehicle resulted in the recovery of 22 bags (47.9 grams) of cocaine, 29 oxycodone pills, and $1,000 cash - Groce had an additional $1,581 cash on his person, which was also confiscated.

A search warrant was then executed at Groce's home, where police say they found 114.9 grams of cocaine, 11 oxycodone pills, 25 phentermine pills, a 9mm Glock handgun, and ammunition.

Groce is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 5 Quantity (2 counts), Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (3 counts), Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Possession of a Controlled Substance (3 counts), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Operating a Vehicle with Aftermarket Window Tint.

He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $136,001 cash bail.
