Driver charged for ride down Philadelphia Art Museum steps

PHILADELPHIA - October 25, 2013

20-year-old Emin Faki was arraigned Friday morning and ordered to stay away from the museum following the incident caught on camera 3 weeks ago.

The driver told police his BMW was parked at the top of the steps in neutral when the emergency brake failed and the car started rolling down the steps.

He claims he jumped in and navigated the vehicle safely to the bottom.

Faki was released Friday on his own recognizance.

He is due back in court December 18th.

The October 25th incident gained wide attention when photographer and blogger HughE Dillon, who happened to be on his way home from an event, captured video of the car making its way down the steps.

The video shows the driver of a black older model convertible BMW driving down the iconic steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art as onlookers cheered him on.
