Tips for making the most of Cyber Monday deals

December 2, 2013

Last year, online shoppers spent $1.25 billion on Cyber Monday.

Online retailers will be offering special Cyber Monday deals, but you can stretch your shopping dollars even more if you follow these tips.

First, be like Santa and make a list of everyone you need to shop for and what you're hoping to buy for them.

That will save you money as you won't over-shop or forget someone and have to buy last-minute, when you might not have time to shop around.

Also, if you're shopping for family and friends who're out-of-town, add their addresses to the list, so can take advantage of any free shipping offers on what you buy.

N

ext, shop through a shopping portal, like Ebates, Shop At Home or FatWallet, that will give you a cash-back percentage on each purchase.

Or use a search engine like Swagbucks, that rewards you with points each time search or shop. You trade in those points for gift cards.

Once you've found a good deal, don't finalize your purchase until you've looked for coupon codes.

If you install the Priceblink toolbar, it'll pop up and let you know what coupons are available. Or you can use a site like RetailMeNot, where you simply enter the retailer's name to get list of available codes for a percentage off or free shipping.

I'll also be updating our Saving with 6abc Codes and Coupons page throughout the day today. And coming up on Action News 6@4, we'll be talking with Trae Bodge, of RetailMeNot. She'll be updating us on some of the hot deals she's found today, so you can take advantage of them after work.
