Wells Fargo Bank settles sex-for-loan complaint in NJ

TRENTON, N.J. - November 20, 2013

Under terms of the settlement announced Wednesday, Wells Fargo admits no wrongdoing.

The bank has agreed to strengthen its anti-discrimination and harassment policies.

Wells Fargo also agreed to instruct human resources personnel on how to properly investigate employee conduct and to pay the state Civil Rights Division $2,500.

Jeanine Johnson of Newark told investigators a loan officer pressured her for dates and sent her suggestive text messages after she applied for the loan.

After rebuffing his overtures, Johnson said the banker became abusive.

Wells Fargo fired the employee following Johnson's complaint.
