An overnight fire forced several Delaware residents out into the below freezing temperatures.

Crews were called out to the Fairway Falls Townhomes on the 3200 block of Champion Drive in Pike Creek, New Castle County shortly after 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building.

Authorities tell Action News fire crews were hampered by high winds and freezing temperatures.

The Red Cross of Delmarva was on scene to assist the residents affected by the fire.

No one, however, was injured in the fire.

The damage is estimated at approximately $300,000.
