1 dead, 2 critical in Port Richmond triple shooting

PORT RICHMOND - December 15, 2013

It happened just before 4:00 p.m. Sunday on the 3300 block of Jasper Street.

Authorities arrived to a home there and found a 19-year-old male victim shot once. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other men, ages 19 and 20 also suffered gunshot wounds. Both victims were taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

"It was a very violent scene inside of the property. There were several witnesses inside the house that were not shot. They have been transferred to homicide and are being interviewed by detectives," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still unclear but police believe drugs may have been involved.

"The motive is not clear at this point, but we did find a small amount of narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia, so it's a possibility that this is a drug related shooting," said Chief Inspector Small.

Residents in the area say the neighborhood is notorious for drugs.

"It's fear, who wants to live with this? No one wants to live with this. It's a shame," said one neighbor.

Police continue to investigate.
