Deadly assault caught on camera in Camden, suspect sought

Camden County police are seeking the public's help in identifying a murder suspect who was caught on video.

57-year-old Timothy Appling of Camden was fatally stabbed during a robbery attempt at 2:48 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Broadway and Atlantic Avenue in Camden.

Appling died from his injuries at 8:55 a.m. at Cooper University Hospital.

Police released surveillance video of the incident on Monday night.

In the video, police say several cars are seen passing the scene as Appling is being assaulted.

The prosecutor and police chief are asking the drivers of those vehicles to come forward and provide information about what they saw.

In the video, the suspect is the man in the lighter colored Carhartt jacket coming from the lower right side of the screen. Appling is wearing the darker clothes and approaches from the top of the screen.
