Struggling SW Phila. family treated to 'Disney on Ice'

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - December 27, 2013

Santa the 'Community Claus' was on hand when the stretch limo, sent by the Wells Fargo Center, arrived to pick up the Miles family.

The limo took them across town to catch Friday night's 'Disney on Ice' show.

Officials from the Wells Fargo Center saw our story Thursday night about the financially strapped family that couldn't afford to give their children a Christmas.

They decided to give them a night out to see 'Disney On Ice: Let's Celebrate!' which runs through January 5th and is produced by the parent company of 6abc.

"Disney is a magical experience and when we saw your story on Action News we just knew we had to step up to the plate and do whatever we could for this family," said Wells Fargo Center representative Rebecca Goodman.

The family got a big bag of Disney souvenirs and got to personally meet Mickey Mouse.

The Miles family had never been to the Wells Fargo Center and have never ridden in a stretch limo.

"I can't stop crying, I'm too excited, I'm so excited," said Corah Miles.

"It is a dream come true," said James Miles.

"It is, it feels so surreal, it feels good," added Corah.

The family even got special seats right on the floor, just a few feet from the ice and the action.

Nine-year-old Chris Miles was overcome by all of the love.

"I think that it's nice, and they're doing a lot for us and everyone else," he said.
