Bomb squad called to Southwest Philadelphia hotel

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA - January 4, 2013

It happened around 2:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hampton Inn on the 8600 block of Bartram Avenue.

Authorities say a woman left two suitcases at the hotel and walked away. When someone told her about the suitcases, the woman reportedly said she didn't want them.

The woman then got into a shuttle and asked to be dropped off at any terminal at the Philadelphia Airport.

Police were able to determine that the suitcases belonged to a homeless woman. They were able to locate her, and she was transported to a homeless shelter.

The hotel relocated over 100 people during the investigation.

No evidence of explosives or other suspicious items were found.

Police cleared the scene and the suitcase around 3:45 p.m. and the guests were allowed to return to the hotel.

The incident remains under investigation.
