Gladwyne Elementary dismissed after power outage

GLADWYNE, Pa. - January 6, 2014

School officials said they had to dismiss students because they did not know when power would be restored.

"Without power, we cannot provide adequate heat and learning conditions for our students," a statement from Dr. James R. Johnson, the principal of Gladwyne Elementary, said.

Students were dismissed at 11:50 a.m. with regular bus service.

Johnson said teachers will be making phone calls and/or emailing parents to confirm how they want children to be transported home.

Meanwhile, Johnson said, all MELC students, both AM and after-care, will be transported to the MELC Center on Haverford Avenue in Wynnewood.

As a result of the power outage, Gladwyne's phone system is unavailable. To contact the office for an urgent matter in the interim, please call (610) 633-8236.
