Demolition at West Deptford, New Jersey plant blamed for loud booms

WEST DEPTFORD, N.J. - January 25, 2014

Gloucester County emergency dispatchers confirmed the noise came from the demolition at the old Sunoco plant in West Deptford, New Jersey.

According to a news release issued by West Deptford Township officials, there was a controlled implosion, to take down a tower and a chimney, at the Sunoco Eagle Point Facility.

Officials said West Deptford Police, along with the Verga and Colonial Manor Fire Departments were scheduled to be on scene as a precautionary measure.
