Here are the grocery and household items that you can likely get for less this month.

If you're not a carnivore - how about saving on asparagus? An insider at Whole Foods says that in February, retailers cut prices on spring items to spur interest from shoppers.

Here are some other items you can save on this month. Berries: Everything from blueberries to strawberries and blackberries. You can expect a discount of up to 30%. Mangoes usually start going down in price this month. You may be able to get them for well under $2. Certain citrus is also well-priced this month.

Some winter spices like cinnamon will also go on sale in February.

You can also expect good deals on chocolate this month. You'll see some deals and price cuts of up to 15% on some items before Valentine's Day - but the really deep discounts, of course, will come right after the holiday.

If you're more focused on home goods, mid-month Presidents Day sales offer discounts on sheets and blankets to mattresses and box springs. Expect good deals on last year's furniture stock, too.
