Traffic stop in Delaware results in large heroin bust

NEW CASTLE, Del. - February 7, 2014

It was 12:37 p.m. when two Troopers conducted a stop on a white Kia Spectra on the 100 block of South DuPont Highway.

The Troopers recognized the driver, identified as 40-year-old Christopher G. White, who was wanted by Newark Police for shoplifting and had a suspended driver's license.

White was taken into custody without incident. The Troopers then determined that the two women inside the Kia, identified as 43-year-old Tarra M. Thomas and 34-year-old Carmen L. Malgiero, were wanted by authorities and then they too were taken into custody.

A search of the Kia revealed a bag containing 58 grams of heroin in the vehicle's trunk. In addition, Thomas was found to be in the possession of a pipe used to smoke crack cocaine.

All three suspects were charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 5 quantity and conspiracy second degree. Thomas was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
