Authorities were called to the area of 5th and Jefferson streets shortly after 2:00 p.m. for the report of shots fired.
Police arrived and did not locate a victim.
While investigating, officers were notified that a victim had arrived at the Christiana Care Wilmington Hospital.
The victim tells police the shooting occurred in the 500 block of Madison Street in front of the Hicks Anderson Community Center.
No further details have been released.
