Foot chase leads to weapons charges against teen in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Del. - March 3, 2014

It was 11:53 a.m. on Sunday when police spotted the teen in the area of West 6th and North Jefferson Streets and observed him allegedly attempting to conceal a handgun in his waistband.

When the officers attempted to stop him, the boy allegedly fled through an alleyway and discarded the loaded .40 caliber handgun with an extended magazine.

Officers caught up the teen and took him into custody.

The suspect was charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited. He was arraigned and then committed to the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $14,000 secured bond.
