Man seriously injured in crash on Roosevelt Boulevard

HUNTING PARK - March 9, 2014

The accident happened around 3:45 a.m. on the Roosevelt Boulevard near 9th Street.

According to investigators, a black Dodge Magnum was traveling northbound on the boulevard when it crossed from the outer lane and into the inner lane, making contact with the median and hitting a black Volkswagen Jetta.

As a result of the impact, the Volkswagen then struck a tree and a metal guard rail.

The 42-year-old driver of the Volkswagen became trapped in the vehicle. When firefighters arrived it took them about 15 minutes to free the man.

The driver was then taken by ambulance to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
