3 people hit by car inside Chester Co. Famous Footwear, DUI suspected

TREDYFFRIN TWP., Pa. - March 11, 2014

The Action Cam was at the Gateway Shopping Center on the 200 block of East Swedesford Road around 6:00 Tuesday evening.

Authorities say a 75-year-old man was behind the wheel of a late model Cadillac ATS when he drove into the store. Glass, debris and merchandise went flying. When the vehicle finally came to a stop, a man was pinned against the wall.

"There were shoes all over the place, we had racks falling on guys as we were trying get things moved out of the way to get the subject free," said Chief Eamon Brazunas, Berwyn Fire Company.

According to police, three people inside the store were struck.

The three victims and the driver were taken to Paoli Hospital for treatment of what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

"It's a little scary to think that right around the corner here anybody could have been walking by," sadi Andi Fogliani, witness.

"It could have been a travesty out here. There are a lot of people in this shopping center all the time. There are tables outside, God forbid if more people were hurt," said Chris Mateola, witness.

Police arrested the driver on suspicion of DUI.

"It could have been a lot worse with how many people are down here at this time of night," said Chief Brazunas.

Police say DUI charges are pending toxicology results. Since formal charges have not been filed, the driver's name has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
