Action News on Broadway at Rocky red carpet Premiere

NEW YORK - March 13, 2014

It's official. Rocky is now on Broadway.

Rocky debuts on Broadway with red carpet and fanfare, making the move from the big screen to the bright lights at the Winter Garden Theatre.

The cast and crew and a host of celebrities celebrated its debut.

All of the iconic Philadelphia moments from the movie can now be seen on stage in New York City.

"This is really surreal," said Sylvester Stallone. "It is one thing with the movie. We got lucky with that and we got lucky 6 times, but 15 years later, a Broadway show."

Some of Stallone's original cast members also walked the red carpet with him including Burt Young. The original Paulie posed for pictures to commemorate the big night.

Also spotted on the red carpet Wesley Snipes, Ralph Lauren and Whoopi Goldberg.

Movie fans can still expect to see their favorite scenes.

"I happened to be one of those fans who loved the movie, and they are so true to the source material without imitating it and without giving you the same old stuff that you can go out and rent," said actress Orfeh.

"The story is the same. It is about a hero that is going for something and gets it and it's exciting," said actress Montego Glover.

Rocky still runs through the Italian Market and up the Art Museum steps. Even Action News makes a cameo appearance in the musical.

But fans say unlike the movie, you can see and smell the story unfold in front of you.

"The actors are experiencing the story right there in front of you and it was a very palpable experience," said Glover.

Sylvester Stallone says it is a night he never dreamed of when he made the original Rocky, and he is thankful to all of the movie fans for helping make happen.

"It was one of those things where I got lucky it just happen to hit a nerve, and the character lived well beyond me," said Stallone.
