Delaware nurse charged with forging prescriptions

SMYRNA, Del. - March 24, 2014

Thirty-one-year-old Danielle M. Tharp-Strouse of Camden was arrested Friday. She was charged with forgery and obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation or fraud or forgery.

Prosecutors say an administrator at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna contacted police alleging that an employee had been illegally obtaining Oxycodone.

The alleged illegal activity took place last year, between February 1 and March 19, 2013.

The Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit began investigating, and officials say Tharp-Strouse allegedly forged the signatures of other hospital staffers.

Prosecutors say Tharp-Strouse forged signatures on the hospital's controlled substances sheets and said the drugs had been given to patients.
