Pennsylvania boys choir founder arrested on sex abuse charges

MARSHALLS CREEK, Pa. – March 26, 2014

Bernard Kenneth Schade was taken into custody Wednesday on charges of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and statutory sexual assault, state police said.

Schade's arrest, they said, stems from allegations he sexually abused members of the Singing Boys of Pennsylvania Choir in 1996.

The choir, mostly based in Monroe and Northampton counties, has had thousands of members over the years, touring across the United States and around the world, police said.

State police said they are seeking any further information about Schade's conduct, as well as information pertaining to current or former choir members.

Anyone with information can contact the criminal investigation unit in Swiftwater at 570-839-7701.

The FBI is assisting with the investigation.
