Pa. man, 47, shot during attempted robbery in New Castle County

TALLEYVILLE, Del. - March 28, 2014

Authorities received a call shortly after 10:00 p.m. from a passenger in a moving vehicle. The caller stated that the vehicle was in Claymont and that he was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Troopers responded to the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

A short time later, Troopers were called to the Days Inn on the 5200 block of Concord Pike, after the vehicle with the shooting victim arrived there.

The victim, a 47-year-old man, was transported to Christiana Hospital by State Police helicopter for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body.

According to police, the shooting occurred when the victim was driven to Edgemoor Liquors on the 4800 block of Governor Printz Boulevard.

After exiting the vehicle, the victim was confronted by two men who demanded money.

Police say the victim did not comply and he was shot by one of the suspects.

The victim then returned to the vehicle and was driven from the scene while he called 911.
