Jet lands safely in NYC after reported bird strike

NEW YORK (AP) - March 28, 2014

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Joe Pentangelo says the JetBlue flight reported the bird strike Friday morning. The agency runs the airport.

JetBlue says Flight 671 was heading from New York's Westchester County Airport to Palm Beach International Airport. It says the captain decided to divert the flight to JFK as a precaution. It landed there around 9:55 a.m.

JetBlue says the 142 passengers were given the option of getting another flight or being taken back to Westchester County.
