Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said in a Twitter post Thursday morning that Troy Posey surrendered to police following extensive media coverage.
Posey is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman inside Bethel Community Baptist Church last month.
Police say he also raped an 8-year-old girl numerous times between 2009 and 2012.
He faces more than 210 charges in that case.
