Police: Robbery leads to chase, crash, shooting in Juniata Park

JUNIATA PARK - April 7, 2014

The victim told investigators it all began on Monday afternoon when he was robbed at gunpoint at Front and Erie.

The bandits apparently tried to get away in a car, but the victim told police he chased them in his own vehicle.

At Erie and I, the victim said the suspects starting shooting out of their vehicle at his car.

At M and Carey, both vehicles crashed and the suspects ran into an abandoned building, where they tried to hide.

The three armed suspects tried to escape on the roof as police arrived, but officers managed to take them in to custody.

At least one gun has been recovered, but police are looking to see if any more guns were left behind.

The view from Chopper 6 HD showed a large police presence at the scene in the minutes after the incident was reported.

One woman described the chaos at the scene.

"It was shots, it was really shots, like 'boom, boom, boom," said witness Leslie Bland. "It knew right away what it was, I was scared to death too. I'm glad the cops came real fast and got them out of here."

Incredibly, no injuries have been reported.
