Chesterfield man stabbed by burglar in own garage

CHESTERFIELD, N.J. - April 8, 2014

The stabbing happened around 8:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Galestown Circle.

Police say the victim was walking home after dropping his children off at the bus stop when he noticed the garage door was open at his house.

He reportedly came upon a burglary in progress and confronted a male suspect.

During the confrontation the victim was wounded in the stomach as the suspect fled the scene.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male approximately 5'10" tall and weighing 160 lbs. with a beard. He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt.
