49ers' Levi's Stadium turf being grown in Central Valley

LIVINGSTON, Calif.

West Coast Turf grows the grass for many stadiums in California and as far away as Arizona. The 49ers' Bermuda grass, over seeded with rye, has been growing since last September, trained and groomed for NFL resilience at three-quarters of an inch.

They grow it in Livingston because of the rich, loamy soil which dates back to runoff from the last ice age.

Greg Dunn may be the man who worries most about it. He's on the grass every day, often on hands and knees, picking away at any weedy imperfections.

The 49ers expect to take delivery late next week.
