Teen girl targeted twice in Collingdale luring attempt

COLLINGDALE, Pa. - April 25, 2014

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon as the girl walked home from Academy Park High School.

According to police, within a 10 minutes span the suspect stopped the teen twice in two different locations.

The first incident occurred on the 300 block of Sharon Avenue. The girl told police that the suspect pulled over, got out of his vehicle and opened the trunk. As she walked by, the man said, "You're pretty ... You always looks good," and allegedly tried to get the girl to look inside the trunk.

The man asked the girl where she was heading, and in an attempt to deter the man the girl said she replied by saying she was only 13-years-old.

The teen then change her route home, hoping to lose the suspect, and proceeded to Clifton Avenue.

Police say surveillance video shows the suspect driving to Ash Avenue where he again pulled over, got out of the car, opened his trunk and waited for the girl. As she passed he again tried to get her to look inside the trunk, but she proceeded to walk home.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 40's, light complexion, about 5'2" - 5'5", with a heavy build. Police say he is also described as having crooked yellow teeth and a thin mustache, but otherwise clean shaven.

Anyone with information pertaining to the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is urged to contact police.
