Officer, woman injured in crash involving Philadelphia police vehicle

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - April 26, 2014

It happened at 6:20 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Academy and Willits Road in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police say a 44-year-old woman driving a silver 2002 Chrysler Concorde pulled out of a parking lot and hit a police SUV.

The woman was trapped in the driver's seat. Emergency responders freed her, and medics took her to Aria Health/Torresdale to be evaluated for possible head, neck and arm injuries.

The officer in the police vehicle, who is assigned to the department's Traffic Division, was also taken to Aria Health/Torresdale and treated for a cut to his leg.

Police say a 34-year-old male passenger and a 3-year-old girl in the Chrysler were not injured.

So far no charges have been filed. An investigation continues.
