Chester couple marries moments after daughter's birth

CHESTER, Pa. - April 28, 2014

This is the story of Marquise Walker, his newly wed wife Latanya and their baby girl Makayla Kenzie Walker.

"We were trying to get married before the baby got here," Latanya said.

"Baby had a different plan," Marquise said.

The two 23 year olds who've been an item since they were 13 had planned to get married on Tuesday, April 29th. But on Sunday night, Latanya told her soon to be husband that she thinks her water broke and their daughter may be born sooner than expected.

"I was lost. I said, 'let's Google it. Are you sure your water broke?" Marquise said.

Suffice to say that Latanya was in labor.

"And I found out on Instagram that she was ready to push. She was on social media while she's in labor," cousin Morgan Weatherly said.

A few hours later, Makayla was born at Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

"I'm getting all teary eyed thinking about it," Latanya said.

"It was amazing, just seeing her be brought to this world," Marquise said.

That's when the couple, with the newborn baby in hand, was asked a question by a maternity nurse, 'Gee, why don't you just get married here?'

"And there was somebody there to do it and we said, 'Ok, let's do it,'" Latanya said.

"My mom went home, grabbed the marriage license and the rings for us," Marquise said.

Now, the Walkers will be celebrating their wedding anniversary and their daughter's birthday on the same day.
