Art of Aging: Older Americans Month

May 1, 2014 10:45:18 AM PDT
Throughout the month of May, PCA is highlighting the artistic talents of older adults with creative activities throughout the city and discounts on many performances, museums and cultural venues.

Amanda Buonomo, PCA Special Events Manager said, "It's wonderful to see this art every year. You're amazed at the talent."

PCA calls it "Celebrate Arts and Aging."

Joan Zaremba, PCA Dir. Of Marketing and Development said, "There's water colors, there's acrylics, there's photography, and we have some ceramic and pottery pieces, quilts."

Photographer Elke Hildegard Muller from South Philadelphia submits a photo every year.

"What I mostly do is take my bike and take my camera and ride around the city,' said Muller.

It's never too late to tap into your creative side. Thomas Newby from Philadelphia, just picked up a paint brush 3 years ago.

"If there's something you have in mind that you really like to try and you have the opportunity to try it, do so," said Newby.

This year's celebration includes exhibits all over the city and creative workshops and classes.
