Huge fire destroys 200-year-old farmhouse in Newark, Delaware

NEWARK, Del. - May 8, 2014

The fire was first reported before 5:00 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Chapman Road, behind the University Village apartments.

Firefighters had to push through a wooded area to get to the fire scene, a large farmhouse believed to be vacant.

Images from the Action Cam showed flames consuming the sprawling, two-story structure.

Action News is told the size and intensity of the blaze awakened a number of residents at the nearby apartment complex.

No injuries were reported.

Fire investigators are working to determine what sparked the blaze.
