The base-wide lockdown went into effect at 11:00 a.m. after someone reported seeing a person with a gun running through a parking lot near Building 706.
As a precautionary measure, and all personnel were told to shelter in place.
However, after a thorough investigation the report was determined to be false
The lockdown was lifted at 2:40 p.m., and normal base operations then resumed.
The air base, located in Dover, Delaware, is home to the 436th Airlift Wing of the U.S. Air Mobility Command, and the 512th Airlift Wing of the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC).
Dover AFB is also the home for the largest military mortuary operated by the U.S. Department of Defense.
