Weight loss tips from man who dropped 155 lbs. in 10 months

May 9, 2014

He says he barely recognizes himself.

Jeff tells us, "I caught myself looking in the mirror at the gym the other day. I was like who is that guy walking next to me and it was me."

When we first met Jeff seven months ago his goal was to lose 150 pounds before turning 30. He had joined CoreFit's 'Lose to Win' program, which is for people who have at least 50 pounds to lose, or who haven't worked out in a long time.

Trainer Joymarie DeFruscio says they modify exercises along the way, and they incorporate nutrition.

"Jeff owned every one of those tools, and that just made the biggest difference for him," DeFruscio said. "You don't see it right away. But then, all of a sudden, he was making these huge leaps and the pounds were coming off fast and furious."

Now Jeff's journey is inspiring others at the gym, like Terri Haines. She's lost 20 pounds, and wants to lose 30 more.

Haines says, "It inspires me each time I come here, thinking if he can do it, I can do it also."

Jeff explains, "I say if I can do it, you can do it. My first workout at Corefit, I had to sit down halfway through."

But today he is slimmer, stronger, more confident, and he's not done yet.

"My ultimate, ultimate goal is 225. And after that I want to start training and change people's lives like they changed mine," Jeff said.

Jeff tells me he had tried to lose weight before, but this time was different. He shares three tips that helped him succeed:

1) Be committed to your goal and tell others about it
2) Plan and track all meals. Count how many calories, carbs and sugars you're eating
3) Lean on others for support
