Pennsylvania to eliminate vehicle registration stickers
Pennsylvania is doing away with renewal stickers for license plates in a change designed to save millions.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania is doing away with renewal stickers for license plates in a change designed to save millions.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will stop issuing the stickers at the end of December , producing more than $3 million in annual savings of production and mail costs.

Motorists must still have their vehicles inspected and have to produce a valid registration card when asked by police.

Also in the new year, PennDOT will let motorists who renew online print out those registration cards.

The stickers were eliminated under a law passed in 2013.

Motorists are not required to scrape off or cover up the old stickers that are already on their license plate.
