ROBBINSVILLE, N.J. (WPVI) -- Amazon.com held a major hiring event for job-seekers on Wednesday.

The company is looking to fill 50,000 positions during the Amazon Jobs Day event as the busy back-to-school and holiday seasons approach.

The jobs are at 10 fulfillment centers across the country, including the facility Robbinsville, Mercer County.

Amazon is looking to fill thousands of jobs as the busy back-to-school and holiday seasons approach

Many of the jobs being offered will be full-time positions offering health insurance, retirement savings plans and other benefits, but part-time work is also available.

Managers were ready to hire some candidates on the spot.

The event ran from 8 a.m. until Noon.

"I am really here for the benefits. They say you get benefits from day one, and I am an independent contractor and I work for myself, so I don't have benefits," said Dan Ford of Brick, N.J.

Job seekers went through information sessions, tours, and an on-site application process and best of all, Amazon says it ready to make thousands of on-the-spot offers to qualified candidates.

It means many will walk in unemployed and before leaving they will hear, "you're hired."

"I am looking for warehouse position, and what better company to work for than Amazon to work for? They are great company and I am looking forward to hopefully getting hired," said Christine Rupakis of Manchester, N.J.
