Driver crashes into van carrying prisoners in Tacony

TACONY (WPVI) -- Police say a driver who may have been impaired crashed into a van that was transporting prisoners in the Tacony section of Philadelphia.

Eleven prisoners have been taken to the hospital to be checked out, authorities say. The police officer in the van was not injured.

The crash happened on Robbins Street near Ditman Street around 3 a.m. Thursday.

The other driver is being tested for being under the influence.
