Chester Upland School District superintendent resigns

CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- Chester Upland School District Superintendent Gregory Shannon is moving on.

Shannon submitted his resignation, effective next month.

Shannon was hired away from the Philadelphia School District three years ago, with hopes of turning the troubled district around.

And while there have been academic gains for the students, the district itself is still under the partial control of the state.
