SOUTH PHILADELPHIA -- A young girl was reunited with her family Friday night after the help of a Good Samaritan in South Philadelphia.

8-year-old Jade Dotson's mom, Michelle who is a Philadelphia Police Officer told Action News that Jade was supposed to be dropped off at her grandmother's house Friday afternoon at 24th and Moore Street.

Instead, her bus driver left her several blocks away at 23rd and Reed Street.

Disoriented and unsupervised, little Jade wandered to a nearby park where she was alone for more than an hour until a well-intentioned stranger got involved.

Jade's mom, Michelle Dotson was very grateful.

"I thank her so much. Anybody could have took her. It could have been someone who didn't return her," she said.

Michelle says Durham Bus Company told her that her daughter's bus was being driven by a new driver who didn't know Jade's usual drop off spot.

Action News called the bus company, but has not heard back from any the staff.
