Temple University students smash Guinness World Record, packing backpacks for children in need

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A group of Temple University students smashed a Guinness World Record Monday night.

They set the bar high for packing the most backpacks in one hour.

Ultimately, 6,026 backpacks were stuffed with school supplies and will go to students in need.

The previous record was 3,000 backpacks set by Brown University in June.

This is the third straight year Temple set out to get in the record books and has done so.
