WASHINGTON D.C. (WPVI) -- It was like a game of tug of war between a would-be robber and employees at a family owned business in Washington D.C.

The women behind the counter refused to give up and they were successful in stopping the man from taking the cash register.

The suspect entered the store on Monday and lunged over the counter to try and take the register.

The employees fought back, hitting him in the head with their hands and aluminum foil.

The women say the suspect never said a word and gave up after a few minutes, leaving emptyhanded.
