Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, Black Widow and friends are coming back to the big screen in a big way and with a brand new villain in their sights.

I had a chance to sit down with the entire star-studded cast of Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron in Los Angeles and they tell me this time around it's not just bigger, deeper, more action-packed, but also packed with heart, humanity and humor.

"I don't think any of us really expected how huge the first one would be so it could almost intimidate you a bit," Robert Downey, Jr., Iron Man, said.

When we catch up with the Avengers this time around, it kind of feels like hanging out with old buddies who are, a tad bit cooler with just a tad more superpowers.

"The first film felt like the first day at school and this one feels like the high school reunion," Chris Hemsworth, Thor, said.

And this time they aren't just fighting for justice, they're downright funny.

"I don't know if it made it on the screen," Hemsworth said.

"It did. You're funny. There are really funny moments," Chris Evans, Captain America, said.

"How do you make it relatable? Humor. Make people laugh. There's an instant connection," Hemsworth said. "When we are all flying around the screen and being superheroes and larger than life characters you have to ground them some way."

Even the villain Ultron has some ultra-hilarious moments.

"Yes, that's what I loved about it," James Spader said with a laugh.

Along with the humor, there's heart - super-sized - in the form of a romance.

"It made perfect sense to me and no one at Marvel ever said boo about it," Spader said.

While we won't spoil which superheroes find a super love connection, you can find out in the video below.

"It is a good love story because I think these characters seem unlikely on the outside, but they're really two people that have a great understanding of one another," Scarlett Johansson, Black Widow, said.

The director Joss Whedon see the humanity of the film.

"For me that was the whole premise of the thing was at what point do we become monsters, at what point do power make us something less?" Whedon said.

"So you have a love story, you have longing, you have loss, you have big fight sequences and it has a pace and a heartbeat," Mark Ruffalo, the Hulk, said.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in select theaters Thursday night and nationwide on Friday.
