Philadelphia film talent is on FIRE right now at the Cannes Film Festival.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia film talent is on FIRE right now at the Cannes Film Festival.

And we had a chance to catch up with a new crop of up-and-comers who are ALSO being featured at the prestigious festival in the south of France.

Dorsea Palmer, an actor and writer from Southwest Philadelphia, met Racquel Bailey and Jamal Hall at a different film festival in Los Angeles.

The new friends hopped in a car to take on the town and found themselves on Van Ness Avenue in Hollywood at midnight. Inspired by their surroundings they started brainstorming.

With a camera in the car, they started improving a script and rolling. And that's how their short drama, "Van Ness Avenue", was born.

The trio taking their film fate into their own hands.

Palmer tells us, "Let's create our own instead of waiting for the big production companies to come knocking at our doors, we are talented, we're writers, creators, producers, directors, and sometimes all you need are the people that's within your circle."

They couldn't afford to travel to Cannes to see their film at the festival. But still, if the week weren't exciting enough, how about THIS - Dorsea surprised us all with a real Hollywood moment!

He got down on one knee, took Racquel's hand and said, "Because I couldn't do it in Cannes, I wanted to do it in my hometown, Philadelphia. So, I want to know, will you marry me?"

After saying "Are you serious??" a few times, Racquel answered Dorsea with a kiss.

Talk about a moment on film... a real happily ever after.
