NEW YORK CITY (WPVI) -- The Broadway hit musical Hamilton could be in trouble for posting a casting call.
The notice said producers were specifically seeking "non-white" performers.
Lawyers say the ad may go against the strict New York City human rights laws.
The law states an employer cannot discriminate because of race.
A show rep says the Broadway union had approved the language in the notice.
In a second casting post, it stated "all ethnicities" can audition.
Many have cheered Hamilton for telling the nation's founding story by a multicultural cast.
