"Fashion Police" co-host Kelly Osbourne is departing the E! show just days after the show and co-host Giuliana Rancic came under fire for comments made about singer Zendaya's hair on the Oscars red carpet.

During the post-Oscars episode, Rancic said that the singer's dreadlocks looked like they smelled of "patchouli oil" and "maybe weed."

The comments were met with immediate backlash, including from Zendaya herself, who called the incident "pure disrespect."

Osbourne, a personal friend of Zendaya's, immediately distanced herself from the comments.

Rancic later offered an apology, first via Twitter and then in a video.

Zendaya later posted a response to Twitter, accepting Rancic's apology and saying that she is "glad it was a learning experience for you and for the network."

However, Osbourne ultimately decided to leave "Fashion Police" Friday, according to E! Online. The cable channel provided the following statement.

"Kelly Osbourne is departing E!s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers," E! Entertainment said in a statement Friday. "Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30, at 9 p.m. and no decisions have been made on her replacement."

Following the Osbourne announcement, show executive producer Melissa Rivers tweeted that she will "miss her terribly."

Osbourne is the daughter of "Black Sabbath" frontman Ozzy Osbourne, and has appeared in several television series and films including "Are We There Yet?" and "Austin Powers in Goldmember."
